The 12 Signs (Yes, There’s a Table)
Astrology sorts signs by element. Fire, earth, air, water — three each. The idea goes back to Babylonian sky-watchers: 12 signs split the ecliptic into 12 slices of 30 degrees each (source: Wikipedia). For scale, the International Astronomical Union counts 88 official constellations in the whole sky — the zodiac’s twelve sit among them.
| Element | Signs and dates |
|---|---|
| Fire | Aries (Mar 21–Apr 19), Leo (Jul 23–Aug 22), Sagittarius (Nov 22–Dec 21) |
| Earth | Taurus (Apr 20–May 20), Virgo (Aug 23–Sep 22), Capricorn (Dec 22–Jan 19) |
| Air | Gemini (May 21–Jun 20), Libra (Sep 23–Oct 22), Aquarius (Jan 20–Feb 18) |
| Water | Cancer (Jun 21–Jul 22), Scorpio (Oct 23–Nov 21), Pisces (Feb 19–Mar 20) |
Writers steal this table. Spin the zodiac wheel, take the element, build a character — fire temper for the hero, calm Pisces energy for the healer. Same trick works for party games.
Three Ways People Actually Use This Thing
The party vote. Everyone spins once, then the group votes — does the sign fit the person? A careful Virgo landing on Leo starts an argument. A good one.
The pair game. Spin twice, read the two signs as a couple, rate the match out of ten. Friendships survive this. Mostly. (If they don’t, the wheel takes the blame, not you.)
Classroom spins. Teachers hand out whatever sign comes up — star story included. Nobody picks favourites. The wheel takes the blame for complaints. Handy, that.
Out of stars? The ice breaker question wheel has 47 ready questions; the random decision maker settles either-or picks in one spin.
Questions People Ask
Are all 12 signs on the wheel?
Yes. All twelve — Aries through Pisces, each with its symbol.
How do I find my own sign?
Match your birthday to the table. Born on a sign’s first or last day? That’s the cusp — both signs claim you.
Is it actually fair?
It is. Every sign gets one equal slice, so each spin is a straight 1-in-12 shot. No sign is favoured. Not even Leo — though Leo would disagree.
Can I change what’s on the wheel?
Sure. Remove signs to shrink the game, or swap in friends’ names for a “sign of the day” draw.
Can the same sign land twice?
Yes — spin the zodiac wheel twice and read whatever pair shows up. The weirder the pair, the better the debate.
Your Turn
Spin the free zodiac wheel once. See which sign claims your day. It’ll feel weirdly accurate.
